The Great Sunflower Project

bee-on-sunflower
Join the hunt for bees at the Great Sunflower project.  As soon as you create an account, they will add you to the list of people to send sunflower seeds for 2010.  They will mail their main group of seeds out in March and other batches in April and May. These are annual Lemon Queen sunflowers (Helianthus annuus). These sunflowers can be grown in a pot on a deck or patio or in a garden. If you are able to get your own seeds and want to send them data, please use the annual sunflower known as "Lemon Queen". That ensures that everyone will be comparing apples to apples!

They ask that you do four easy steps:
1. Sign up and plant your sunflower
2. Describe your garden
3. Time how long it takes 5 bees to visit your sunflower plant
4. Enter your data online or send us your form.
