Mesa hosting 2010 HOA Academy

We do not live in an HOA, but if we did I would want to attend these.

The City of Mesa is hosting its second HOA Academy to provide residents with the education and resources needed to understand the various aspects of membership and management of a homeowners association. The 2010 HOA Academy will include six sessions on the following dates from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Mesa Utilities Building, 640 N. Mesa Drive:

• Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 “HOA 101”
This class explores the responsibilities and challenges associated with running an HOA, including structure, obligations, committees and vendors.

• Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 “Legal Aspects of HOAs”
In this class, community association attorneys speak on the creation and enforcement of CC&Rs, legal jurisdictions, obligations and homeowner’s rights.

• Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 “Budgets, Financial Statements and
Reserve Studies”

Meetings”

The City of Mesa’s Neighborhood Services Department works regularly with HOA leaders and residents to connect them to City resources and assist them with addressing neighborhood challenges. There are currently 412 HOAs registered with the City.

The 2010 HOA Academy is presented by the City of Mesa and The Leadership Centre.
