Rock Out at the Gem Show

The 38th Annual Flagg Gem and Mineral Show takes place 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday through Sunday, Jan. 8, 9 and 10 in the west parking lot of Mesa Community College, 1833 W. Southern Ave. in Mesa (entrance on Dobson Road). Admission and parking are free.

An event primarily designed for the children, this is a great opportunity. BTW, the define the age of a child as 3 to 83.

We took our granddaughters to this last year and they had a blast. They especially liked the booth, by the Arizona Leaverites, where they got an egg carton and got to choose an assortment of  minerals, rocks, and fossils. The staff then labeled each one so they would know what they were. I think it cost us $1 per child. Of course, our one granddaughter dumped hers out as soon as she got home and sorted them by color.

Great fun, check it out this Saturday.
